Turning moms and dads into husbands and wives one household at a time...

I'm about to share my secret weapon with you, and it involves how I got my man to marry me after seven plus years of dating. Okay so maybe I'm exaggerating a bit here, but I'm convinced that this recipe combined with the sexy pumps worn while preparing said recipe, ultimately led to him getting down on bended knee. Perhaps it was because he was already knocked to his knees by these amazing cookies and figured while he's down there, he might as well propose.

When I was 14 years old, I found the recipe for "Lace Cookies" in a tattered junior high school home economics book. Through the years, I changed the recipe to the one you see here. These cookies are not only delicious and cause men to adore you, they are also a bit of a pain to make, which makes them all the more appreciated. Trust me, when his eyes roll to the back of his head, you will know that your efforts were well worth it. Maybe cookies don't do it for your man....my point here is to have a signature dish or dessert and then present it to your man. The image of a wholesome kitchen goddess tempered with a wicked bedroom vixen will make you irresistible. Make your guy feel special and don't forget to look your sexiest while doing this. Your sexy self combined with your culinary prowess will convince him that he can't live without you.

If you want to make this recipe yours, please be my guest. I hope you have as much luck with it as I have.

Lace Cookies also known as Proposal Cookies makes 90 cookies (45 once you sandwich them with chocolate)

Note: Do not make these cookies when it's raining or very humid out because they won't achieve their signature crispy texture

2 1/4 cups oatmeal
2 1/4 cups light brown sugar
3 TBSP flour
1 tsp salt
1 cup melted butter (no substitutes)
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 tsp vanilla

Chocolate chips and/or butterscotch chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare a cookie sheet with 3 layers of foil and lightly spray the top layer with non-stick cooking spray.

In a large bowl, combine oatmeal, sugar, flour and salt. Stir in butter, egg and vanilla, making sure to blend well. Arrange by half teaspoonfuls, at least 2 inches apart on prepared cookie sheets. Bake until lightly browned, about 6 minutes. Watch these cookies VERY carefully because they go from looking like they're not done to burnt to a crisp in seconds. Also, do not touch these cookies until they are cool because the high sugar content makes them like lava! If they bake together, gently separate them with the tip of a knife and make adjustments to the next batch. When completely cool, use a thin spatula to remove to rack.

Melt the chocolate chips or butterscotch chips (I like to make a batch of each) and gently spread some on one cookie and sandwich it with another cookie. After chocolate has set, store in air tight container separating the layers with waxed paper.

Put on a sexy outfit and some pumps and serve...

Yes, 3 layers on top of each other. These cookies burn very easily and through trial and error, I found that by adding a few extra layers of foil, you can avoid burning them. I'd love to hear from you after you bake the cookies!
